29 weeks and starting to show.

Abby's Valentine's Day ensemble from Grandma Jenkins. Could she get any cuter? Probably. I could try to do her hair for once. ;)

BELLY PICS!

He's HUGE! Don't you think? 29 weeks is really doing stuff to his body. Good heavens. What? You asked for belly pics. It's not like you specified whose belly you wanted.

Okay, fine. Here I am. Black shirts are the best, aren't they? They make you feel so much better when you look in the mirror. As long as you don't turn to the side.

Because when you do, let's be honest. It looks weird.

I don't wear t-shirts in public, don't worry. I haven't damaged anyone's eyes.

We LOVE YOU all and wish you a merry Thursday!

"I'm sorry I cried at you, mom" and other Abby stories

I once ran into a woman in a church bathroom who told me that her favorite stage for children was 18 months to 3 years old. Abby was getting close to 18 months and I remember thinking, "She's psycho. This age is ridiculous!" But now I'm starting to agree with her. Or at least from 2-3 might be my favorite.

Last night Abby was having a hard time sleeping so she asked me to sing her a song. When she asks me to sing, she will always ask that I sing "I am a child of God." When she asks Jesse to sing, it will always be "We're So Far Away" by Mae. Abby knows it as "Remembering." He has sung that to her since she was days old.
I LOVE that Abby can sing all three (I don't typically sing the fourth... I guess I'm lazy), but she can sing all three verses of "I'm a Child of God" with me plus the chorus. And then she will always ask me to sing "Book of Mormon Stories" after and she knows the first two verses of that one. I love hearing her little voice sing with me and if I mess up, she corrects me.

Abby is starting to figure out apologizing and such. The other day I was just exhausted and I broke down crying. I was trying to hide in the bathroom so Jesse and Abby didn't see me, but they both came wandering in when a louder than intended sob broke through. Jesse, of course, put his arms around me and Abby quickly joined in. She patted my back and said, "I'm sorry I got mad at you, mom." I started laughing. Who could stay sad with such a sweet two-year-old?

Today when I told Abby it was time for a nap, she just fell apart on the floor sobbing and wailing. She was so stinkin' tired and desperately needed a nap, but she wanted to fight it. I put on my no emotions mask and carried her into her bedroom while she threw her little body around in my arms attempting to escape. She continued to cry as I read stories and then put her blankets on her. As soon as I turned off the lights, she stopped. I walked over to kiss her good-night and she said, "I'm sorry I cried at you, mom". I replied, "I forgive you." And she sleepily responded, "I forgive you, too." This age just cracks me up.

And here is a picture I took of Abby this morning to showcase her awesome beanie and shoes--though I realized you can't see the shoes. And then when I went to get the picture from the camera just now, I was surprised to find some funny pictures of dad and Abby. They must have done them while I was in the shower. Aren't dads the best? I love my husband. Who else can be so goofy? Abby and her dad are best buds. They rough house like there's no tomorrow. Love it. Love them. Love y'all.

To chilly Chicago and pink Alabama

These are just some silly pictures of Abby. If you didn't know, Sarah, my brilliant sister is in chilly Chicago, and Jesse's family is in pink Alabama. It's pink because Alabama is pink on Ashton's map of the U.S. Anyway, silly pictures ahoy!

And these pictures are NOT in order. Like it matters, right?

This is the bow Abby is wearing today. It's made from a pink zipper that her Aunt Sarah made. Aunt.. that makes you sound old. :)

Don't you love it when all is quiet and for once it doesn't mean she's made a horrible mess? I found her in her tent coloring pictures. So perfect.

Uhhhh.... yeah. That's about what I said when I saw these two that day. Abby was, of course, Princess Abigail, and Jesse was King Dad. King Dad is appropriately dressed in church socks, basketball shorts, his bath robe, and Abby's princess blanket tied as a turban. They went on many adventures that night--parades, lava rock jumping, etc. I LOVE my husband. :)

Abby is showing you the wonderful outfit she picked out herself: princess skirt from Sarah, big sister shirt, and white coat from Grandma Larsen that no longer fits her arms but she INSISTS on wearing it. And the skirt is struggling to stay on her teeny waist. But hey, she's still adorable!

My family is hilarious! Love them, love them, love them.

Lunch!

Lately I've noticed that Jesse pretty much always has a far away look on his face. He's off in another world with all of his commitments/responsibilities--senior film, work, internship hunting, school, wife/daughter, etc. I have to remind him to eat most of the time because he just doesn't remember. He's too busy. Well, today Jesse said he was going to make egg salad sandwiches for lunch and I left him to it. So what's wrong with this picture?

One needs to boil the egg IN the shell to make hard-boiled eggs. Yes, Jesse had "that look" on his face just before it happened. Most likely he was thinking of the rainbow dream sequence of his senior film. Who knows. But this is NOT how to boil an egg. As soon as he cracked it, he stopped to let it register. We both started cracking up. One day Jesse's brain will return. Just not until April 2011.

I love the laughs my husband gives me. :)

Polka dots and such

These are random stories over the past two days:

Abby woke up yesterday morning and I was still asleep. As always. She walked over, flipped on the light (my EVERY day rude awakening), and then climbed in bed with me. She was looking at my face when she started laughing. "Mom," she innocently began, "why you have polka dots on your face?" And then she pointed out my polka dots. "Here, and here, and another here, and another polka dot! Oh my goodness! Lots of polka dots!" Thank you, my lovely child, for pointing out the wonderful flaws of my complexion. But it was funny.

We have successfully had two days of NO potty-training accidents. The cold water tub trick has her completely freaked out. So tonight I was babysitting Samuel. I was holding him in one arm and attempting to crack eggs with the other. Abby was sitting on the diaper boxes in our kitchen, eating an apple, when she jumped up and ran screaming, "Use the potty! Use the potty!" Suddenly she stopped mid-living room. She calmly turned around and walked back saying, "I'm okay, I'm okay, I'm okay..." And as quickly as she stopped, she freaked out again, "Use the potty! Use the potty!" And she booked it for the bathroom. Number two. Go my Abby. I had to crack an egg, wash my fingers, and get Samuel situated on the floor faster than I can blink so we didn't have accidents, but hey, we did it.

The awesome part about having Samuel playing with us tonight was to see Abby with him. She LOVES Samuel--until he touches her. Which is the story with every child. So we've learned that Abby will love you as long as you don't touch her. Anyway, she was super helpful with him tonight. She would hand him toys, put his blanket on him, attempt to play "silly games" as Abby calls them, etc. She was dang cute. I'm glad I have Abby to help me out.

Here is a picture of the stroller I want:
